OLIVER, Alvin R. - Passed peacefully away after a short battle with cancer on Sunday, February 10, 2013, Alvin R. Oliver of Burnt Point, age 62 years. Predeceased by his wife: Marjorie (Wadland); parents: Jessie and Margaret Oliver; brother: Derrick; brother-in-law: Robert Follett. Leaving to mourn, special friend: Carol Ann Druken, Paradise; three brothers: James (Marion), Burnt Point, Graham (Mona), Job's Cove and Bruce (Carol Ann Reid), CBS; five sisters: Lorraine (Art) Snow, Mount Pearl, Ethel Oliver, Burnt Point, Viola Follett, St. John's, Vina (Ralph) Kirkland, Mount Pearl and Linda (Gary) Milley, Burnt Point; also members of the Wadland family; and a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Carol Ann Druken for caring for Alvin during his final days. Resting at the Gospel Hall, Burnt Point on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.; then resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, Topsail Road on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Carnell's Memorial Chapel, Freshwater Road, St. John's. Inurnment in the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road, St. John's. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
