CASSELL, Drucilla - Passed suddenly away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John's on Friday, May 4, 2012, Drucilla Cassell of St. John's; formerly of Western Bay, age 82 years. Drucilla was devoted to family and home. She had a marvelous work ethic and believed in its value. She will always be remembered for her quick wit, warmth, big blue eyes and never being caught out without her bit of lipstick on. Predeceased by her husband: Lester James; parents: John and Sarah Walsh; brothers: Leonard, Malcolm, Russell and Reg; sister: Elizabeth; sisters-in-law: Hilda Walsh, Anna Walsh and Linda Cassell; brother-in-law: Lester Bungay. Leaving to mourn, one daughter: Marilyn (Dennis), Broad Cove; one son: Derrick, St. John's; brothers-in-law: Hubert (Doris), St. John's and Ross (Clara), Labrador City; sisters-in-law: Madeline Bungay, White Bay and Olive Walsh, CBS; special nieces: Sharon Fowler, CBS and Myra Pynn, Ontario; special great-niece: Brooke Fowler, CBS; special cousin: Clayton (Alice) Dale, Northern Bay; two special young ladies who were dear to Drucilla and Lester and who are former students of the NL School for the Deaf: Lisa Whalen and Terri-lynn Harris; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Hoyles Escasoni East 1 for their dedication and caring for Drucilla these past five years. Their professionalism was second to none. The staff of East 1 took Drucilla in to their hearts and their kindness will never be forgotten. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Sunday, May 6 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Monday, May 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Monday, May 7 at 2:00 p.m. from Noel's Funeral Home, Western Bay. Interment in the United Cemetery, Western Bay South. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Broad Cove United Church.
