KING, Ellie Doris - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, January 16, 2014, Ellie Doris King of Carbonear, age 89 years. Predeceased by husband: Wilson, infant daughter: Betty, daughter: Effie Mercer, daughter-in-law: Loretta King; parents: Eli and Effie Swain; sisters: Mary Crewe, Phyllis Dominic and Florrie King, brothers: Tom, Bill and Boyd Swain. Leaving to mourn, four daughters: Doris (David) Clarke and Judy (John) Colbourne, both of Carbonear, Phyllis (David) Collins, Victoria and Rosalie (David McDermid), Malford, SK; five sons: Albert (Joan) and Harold (Joan), both of Carbonear, Lindsay (Karen), Perry's Cove, Wilson (Joy), Salmonier and Byron (Kellie), Carbonear; son-in-law: Gerald Mercer, Coley's Point; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one brother: Ed Swain (Stella), Carbonear; sisters-in-law: Phyllis Swain, Sudbury, ON and Alda Swain, Glace Bay, NS; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 18 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Saturday, January 18 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethany United Church, Carbonear. Interment in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to Bethany United Church.
