MERCER, Phoebe Dolores - Passed away after a courageous battle with cancer at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, November 8, 2013, Phoebe Dolores Mercer of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 65 years. Predeceased by son: Danny; daughter: Theresa Marie; parents: Pierce and Cecilia Purcell; brothers: Alphonsus and Patrick Purcell. Leaving to mourn, husband: Thomas; three sons: Rick (Crystal), Harbour Grace, Randy (Angela), Tilton and Jason (Melissa), Spaniard's Bay; five grandchildren: Daniel, Robyn, A.J., Jacob and Jenna; two brothers: Leo (Hazel) Purcell and Richard (Marilyn) Purcell, both of Harbour Grace; one sister: Eileen (Leonard) Mahaney, Harbour Grace; brothers-in-law: George Mercer, Bay Roberts, David (Kathleen) Mercer, Harbour Grace and William 'Bill' Mercer, St. John's; sisters-in-law: Violet Wilcox (Russ), Ontario, Kathleen (Ron) Lynch, Upper Island Cove and Vera Purcell, Nova Scotia; good friends: William and Cecilia Kennedy, Bay Roberts and John andEvelyn Swain, Perry's Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. At Phoebe's request cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Sunday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Inurnment in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. In lieu of flowers, as an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory may be made to the Phoebe Dolores Mercer Memorial Fund.
